ブチャより犠牲者が多く、被害規模が大きいといわれているボロジャンカにある動物保護施設では、ロシアによる軍事侵攻が始まった2月下旬からロシア兵がボロジャンカを去った4月上旬までの間、シェルターにいる485匹の犬はケージに閉じ込められたまま、食べ物も水もないまま放置され、4月1日にボランティアがようやく建物に入れた時には、485匹のうち150匹を除く犬がすべて命を落としていた。

リビウの動物救護センターには、ハリコフ、キエフ、ミコライウから来て、リビウ経由で国外に避難する人々に置き去りにされるペットが増加し続けている。これから難民となるのに、ぺットを一緒に連れていけないと思う飼い主は後を絶たない。
