本作品は、韓国の女子刑務所の合唱団「ハーモニー」が、コンクールのステージで一番会いたかった人に出会うハートフルストーリー。実在するショウンジュ女子刑務所の合唱団がモチーフ、韓国では観客動員数300万人を超えるヒット作である。受刑者と受刑者を取り巻く人々が織り成す感情模様が心を揺さぶり、感涙を誘う。

主演のジョンへ役は、1999 年の大ヒット作「シェリ」で悲劇のヒロインを演じたキム・ユンジン。日韓国民交流年2002 の韓国の親善大使（日本は藤原紀香）である。
